CAMPUS VISIT PROGRAM
Our S.C.O.R.E. Seminars (Student-Athletes Capitalizing on Opportunities Regarding Employment) help prepare the student-athletes for their future challenging job search process by assisting them in recognizing and articulating the unique skill set that they have acquired through athletic participation. This skill set, which the athletes often have not identified or acknowledged, is quite attractive to many companies. During a Visit CRG conducts two one-hour SCORE seminars. The underclassmen seminar is entitled "Developing Your Career Game Plan." The upperclassmen seminar is entitled "How to Sell Yourself as a Student-Athlete." The following day, one-on-one coaching sessions are conducted to provide interview critique to interested graduating seniors. Freshman/Sophomore Seminar: Developing your Career Game Plan "What will make you attractive to an employer?" This seminar encourages underclassmen to take an assertive role in their personal career development. Discussions take place regarding what organizations are looking for in graduates today, resume preparation, how to network and differentiate themselves, advice on the selection of electives, summer jobs and internships, as well as frank dialog about competition that student-athletes face in the job-seeking process. Junior/Senior Seminar: How to Sell Yourself as an Athlete "Creating a Competitive Advantage." Aimed at upperclassmen, this original CRG feature seminar presentation educates student-athletes on their unique skill set and how to articulate these skills and traits in an interview situation. Topics covered in this seminar are: knowing your competition, identifying skills learned through athletic participation and how to use these skills in an interview, networking, preparation for an interview, and how to differentiate yourself to name a few. This seminar is accompanied by the "Career Development Workbook," a comprehensive publication which provides tips, exercises, and sample resumes. One-on-One Coaching Sessions Provide an opportunity for upperclassman student-athletes to have their interviewing skills critiqued as well as other professional guidance which includes resume review and general career advice. |
